Our second collaboration with English poet Justin Leo Nugent.
A dark and mysterious poem set to Heavy Metal music. Poetry for the modern masses!
lyrics
Beneath the solemn brooding sky,
A thousand squirming creatures dwell.
Where squalling birds peck day and night,
Upon the bloodied trail.
No pitiless sigh or piercing wail,
From below the sodden ground,
If sin you desire, then seek you must,
A devil may be found.
Such muffled tones and mournful groan,
Scorns my twisted brittle bones,
Tormented by embittered cry,
The flailing trees of Winter die.
How sullen I have become,
Below the piercing light of day.
Drenched beneath the soil,
My bones wrapped with the dampness
of Earth's callous nature.
Four wretched seasons cast upon my grave,
I have suffered each and all.
The woeful cry of the foulest vermin draining,
Like bloodless Vipers ruthlessly scourging.
Scorned with rueful sorrow embowed,
Unsoundly voices weeping, fading.
Four miserable Winters I have endured,
I have dwelled sorely,
Beneath each and every sordid one.
Treasure the souls of those departed,
And fan the rising flames,
Release the beast inside,
From such abhorrent tyranny,
And muzzle the Devils maddening cry.
Plunge my soul, you torrid beasts
of wrath and ruin,
From beneath the trees,
Beside the wailing Ravens perched.
Before the might of Winter's wrath returns,
Such wretchedness taunts my being.
How nature has inflicted me,
With her cruel and vicious ways.
You wicked winds of treacherous vile.
Haunted by footsteps that traipse upon,
Unpleasant murmurs, weakening song.
Embittered cries of strangers frailing,
As the ugly wrath of sunset dawns
upon my mourning soul.
Until death releases my crippled being,
And beckons me with decrepit hands binding.
Frailed then, by the scornful blaze,
And swathed in bitter ruin.
Ungodly sounds suffocating,
The wrath of Winter's curse burdening,
Beyond the grave, the Tempest dwelling.
Musters me with all his treacherous brawn.
As the crippled hands of a stranger thrusts
with vigorous haste,
His long drawn face, my nightmare.
Daggers coiled into the soil wrenching,
Cries subdued by grievous lament,
The Reaper lies wretched waiting.
Through endless plight I have been drawn,
How I yearn for the dawning of Spring,
Beckoning, gladly.
Tow the hearse into the murky depths,
You sinful sons of death.
Then light the gas lamps,
You perfidious sons of Satan.
The deceased may have already
laid down their wreaths,
But I have suffered for far too long.
Release then my soul,
From such terrible blight,
And purge the rampant torrent storms.
For coldness is a feeling best endured,
amongst the Angels weeping.
Entwined in the roots that slither and crawl,
The haggard soul of a stranger lurking.
Wretchedly stalking in cold bloodless yearn,
Above this malodorous haven lurching,
His heartless cry, dark and foreboding.
As the prevailing clouds thicken still,
Clothed in robes, drenched with woeful cry,
Of a thousand sufferers, suffering.
He will not mourn my passing.
Stall these merciless swine from their
callous deeds,
And mask the bloodless Vulchers swirling.
Their thirst for blood, endlessly draining.
Quench their lust for wastless squaller,
Those infernal beings have all bled dry.
Not all creatures that dwell beneath the ground,
Have I had the displeasure of becoming
acquainted with.
Still the dead above pass by in miserable mourn.
